The Wallbanger Studios Story
Wallbanger Studios was founded on a vision: to provide affordable access to a world-class production environment that was once only available to those with major record label backing. We are a 10,000 square foot full-service audio and video facility serving musicians, businesses, and content creators near Charlotte, NC.

The Guys Behind the Sound and Lights
Your Studio Crew
David Thigpen: Founder, Producer, Session Drummer
David's musical journey began with drums at age five. After demonstrating aptitude through classical piano lessons, he got his first kit. Over forty-plus years and numerous sessions in top Nashville studios—including a 2006-2016 run with the band Swamp Da Wamp—David fulfilled a lifelong dream. He built a Nashville-quality studio in Kannapolis, NC. With the help of designer Jeff Hedback of HD Acoustics and Clarity Inc., that dream became Wallbanger Studios.
Rob Farris: Co-founder, Producer, Head Engineer, Session Keys and Vocals
A master of sound with a distinguished resume, Rob’s audio engineering and production credits date back to 1995 when he founded his first studio, Big Bang Theory. He has worked with notable artists like The Backsliders and Kenny Robey. Notably, Ben Folds used Farris's Wurlitzer on the album Whatever and Ever Amen to double the piano sound. Since the '90s, his versatility has also made him a preferred live sound engineer for the North Carolina Symphony and major state events.
Craig Hatley: Floor Manager, Monitor Engineer, Session Bassist
Also known as Foonte MacAnaughty, Craig started his music training at age five with piano and voice lessons in the Kannapolis Boys Choir, later playing trumpet. His path changed at twelve upon discovering The Beatles. Initially inspired to be a drummer, he settled on the bass guitar at thirteen after learning "Louie Louie" during a rehearsal. He went professional at nineteen, playing with Jesse Bolt (1970s–1981), Armed Angel (until 1983), and Midnight Highway, a top 40 country cover and original band, in the 1990s.
